The Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) Expansion Project includes widening the current four-lane segments along nearly ten miles of the I-64 corridor in Norfolk and Hampton, with new twin tunnels across the harbor. Two lanes will be free general-purpose lanes, and one lane and one driveable shoulder will be Express Lanes in both directions.
The Hampton Roads Express Lanes Norfolk segment is east of the HRBT and the Hampton Roads Express Lanes Hampton segment is to the west of the HRBT and when complete, motorists will be able use the Express Lanes continually through the network.
